This week, the U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote on H.R. 82, the Social Security Fairness Act – a top priority for the IAFF.

H.R. 82 would repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offsets (GPO), which have unfairly penalized fire fighters and other public servants for over 40 years. Passing this bill would restore fairness to Social Security for millions of Americans.

At this critical moment, we need all IAFF members to join the fight and tell their representatives in Congress to vote YES on H.R. 82!

Thanks to the IAFF's efforts, Congress successfully discharged H.R. 82 to the House floor last month. It’s time to again make sure lawmakers know where fire fighters and emergency medical workers stand on this critical legislation.
